Welcome to Road Beer ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled in a safe and responsible manner. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website, roadbeer.app (the "Site"), and related services (collectively, the "Services").
1. Information We Collect
We collect information from you in the following ways:
- Information You Provide: When you use our contact forms, we collect your name, email address, and any message or images you submit. This information is used to respond to your inquiries or provide requested services.
- Location Information: When you use features like "Nearby Breweries" or "Road Trip," we may collect your geolocation data (latitude and longitude) if you provide it directly or if we derive it from an address you enter. This data is used to provide location-based services.
- Session Data: We use session cookies to store temporary information, such as your search context (e.g., latitude and longitude), to improve your experience across different parts of the Site. This data is stored server-side and is not used for tracking purposes beyond your current session.
- Third-Party Data: We collect publicly available information about breweries, such as names, addresses, ratings, and other details, from third-party sources to provide our Services. This data is stored in our database and may be updated periodically.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Service Delivery: To provide and improve our Services, such as finding nearby breweries, planning road trips, and responding to your contact requests.
- Communication: To send emails in response to your inquiries or submissions via our contact forms.
- Improvement and Analytics: To understand how users interact with our Site and to improve its functionality. Note that we do not currently use tracking cookies or third-party analytics services.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties, except as described below:
- Service Providers: We use third-party services to operate our Site, including:
- Gmail SMTP (via Flask-Mail) to send emails. Google processes your email address and message content when we send emails on your behalf.
- Nominatim (via Geopy) to geocode addresses. Nominatim processes addresses you provide to convert them into latitude and longitude coordinates.
- Strapi to host and fetch blog content. Strapi processes requests for blog posts but does not collect personal information from you.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
4. Data Storage and Security
We implement reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
- Contact Form Data: Information you submit via contact forms is not stored on our servers but is sent directly via email. Emails are stored by our email provider, Google (Gmail).
- Session Data: Session data is stored server-side and is deleted when your session ends or after a period of inactivity.
- Brewery Data: Brewery information is stored in our database and may be retained indefinitely to provide our Services.
5. Cookies and Tracking
We use session cookies to maintain your session state while you navigate our Site. These cookies are essential for the functionality of our Services and do not track your activity across other websites. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings, but disabling cookies may affect the functionality of our Site.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:
- The right to access the personal information we hold about you.
- The right to request correction of inaccurate information.
- The right to request deletion of your personal information.
- The right to object to or restrict certain uses of your information.
